Answers to Common Questions:
How do I best get a picture of the recipe card?
To submit the best image of your recipe card you can scan it on your printer and save it as a PDF file. You can take a picture of the recipe card with your smart phone camera. Here are some tips for taking the best photograph of your recipe card:
- Straight angle - hold your phone directly above the recipe card that is laying on a flat surface
- Focus your camera - tap on your screen once you have the recipe card in position to set the focus and proper settings
- No shadows - make sure that overhead lighting does not cast a shadow or bright spot on the recipe card. Taking your picture outside in natural lighting (not direct sunlight) often creates the best picture.
Will I receive a proof before you engrave?
We will do our best to work with your images. If you would like a proof before we engrave, please request one in the "Special Instructions" at checkout. If the image is acceptable and we have no questions, we will NOT send a proof unless requested.
Can you remove lines, scribbles or other mistakes?
Yes, our default is to remove the lines from recipe card photos, but we can leave them if you wish. We can also clean up scribbles or mistakes but sometimes these add to the character of the recipe. Just give us clear instructions in the "Special Instructions" when you are completing the order for any specific clean ups you want us to do.
Will I receive a proof of my final order before it is created?
To keep our process timely we typically do NOT send out a proof to you unless is specifically requested from you to do so. If requested, we will email you with a proof to the provided email address on your order. Once we receive your approval then we will engrave the cutting board. Processing times may be longer based on waiting for approval.
How will you position the recipe on the cutting board?
You will specify in your order the orientation you would like the recipe to be placed on each style of cutting board. Taller recipes (ones that use the front and back of a recipe card) tend to look best in a vertical orientation, while shorter ones look best in horizontal orientation.
When cutting boards are selected for a vertical orientation with the handle positioned towards the top. When cutting boards are selected for a horizontal orientation with the handle positioned on the left side.
How do I care for my cutting board after receiving it?
Cutting boards should be hand washed and dried immediately after. Do not leave submerged in water. For a longer lasting finish, occasionally wipe down with a food safe mineral oil.
