Zippered Port Shirts – Comfortable Access Shirts for Chemo & Treatment

Going through cancer treatment is hard enough. Getting dressed for it shouldn’t add extra stress.

We help transform normal shirts into Custom Zippered Port Shirts to provide a more comfortable, dignified alternative to hospital gowns during chemotherapy and infusion treatments. We professionally install a discreet zipper diagonal along the front of a shirt—positioned to allow easy access to a chest port—so you or your loved one can remain comfortably dressed during treatment sessions.

This mission project was born from years of supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, walking alongside friends whose son bravely fought leukemia, and from personal loss after my own mother passed away from cancer. What started as making a few shirts for one child has grown into a way to serve many families walking this difficult road.

This service is offered at a minimal cost, simply to help cover materials and basic expenses. Our goal is to make treatment days just a little easier.

How It Works

1) Purchase this listing for the number of shirts you would like altered.
2) Mail your clean shirts to:

The Unlimited Stitch
Attn: Port Shirts
1278 Weatherspoon Drive
Morton, IL 61550

3. Include a note with:

  • The side of the shirt that needs zipper access (left or right when wearing)
  • Any special instructions
  • (Optional) The name of the person who will be wearing the shirts

If you feel comfortable sharing their name, we will be honored to pray for them specifically.

Once completed, shirts will be carefully packaged and shipped back to you.

What We Do

  • Professionally install a soft, durable zipper along the port-access side
  • Position zipper for discreet access during infusions
  • Reinforce stitching for durability through repeated washes
  • Maintain the natural look and comfort of the original shirt

These shirts allow children and adults to:

  • Stay warm and comfortable during long treatment sessions
  • Maintain dignity by avoiding hospital gowns
  • Wear favorite tees, sweatshirts, or familiar clothing
  • Reduce stress on treatment days

Important Notes

  • Shirts must be sent in clean and ready for alteration.
  • We recommend mid-weight cotton tees or sweatshirts for best results.
  • Turnaround time will be 1-2 weeks from the time of receiving the shirt(s)

This is more than a sewing service—it’s a small way to serve families facing something overwhelming. If this simple modification can provide comfort, confidence, or even just one less worry during treatment, then it is worth every stitch.
